About Our Program
The first twelve months of a baby’s life are a crucial period for learning and brain development. It is often said that “Parents are a child’s first and most important teachers.” Yet, access to information, tools, and strategies for baby’s first year of life is not always readily available or utilized. New parents want the best for their child including all of the tools available, especially when they may not know how to promote or enhance their baby’s development.
The BABY KNOW: BODIES, HEARTS & MINDS program provides new parents with a holistic approach to their child’s development. Our program includes information, tools, and strategies to create strong parent-child relationships, incorporating developmental milestones and nurturing the emotional well-being of all family members. Parents will learn through video lectures, demonstrations, and activities, covering all aspects of development.
Units are organized by developmental period:
Unit 1: 0-3 Months
Unit 2: 4-6 Months
Unit 3: 7-9 Months
Unit 4: 10-12 Months
Additional benefits of this course:

Example Affirmation Video:
Our course is organized so that each of the 6 focus areas is followed by a video lesson featuring an activity from the ABCs For Grown Ups Affirmations for Well-being card deck. Each video includes an affirmation, a question for reflection, and four activities; one to support your personal well-being, one for your baby, one for your older children, if you have them, and one for your family to engage in together. This is another positive and proactive way to engage the body, mind, and heart of you, your baby, and your family.
Example Mindfulness Video:
We have included these short videos to support your attention to the present moment. Mindfulness is a powerful tool that can help you to feel relaxed, focused, and prepared for learning. We believe that by incorporating just a few minutes of mindfulness practice prior to completing our lessons, you can be fully present and more in tune with and aware of the knowledge you will be building throughout this course.
This course brings together the expertise of early childhood and parent educators as well as a certified occupational therapist and speech language pathologist. Each unit of our course includes 6 major focus areas: fine motor and sensory development, gross motor development, speech, language and play, vision, play-based learning, and general new parent advice.
